Online Firearms and Ammunition Payments Without an Acquirer Balance

Approved firearms merchants can add a customer-initiated checkout rail while preserving the FFL transfer and background-check workflow.

Restricted categories require prior written approval from Peer. Production access is subject to merchant, product, and jurisdiction review.

The payment rail and the transfer workflow are separate

Licensed firearms businesses may lose a mainstream processor or accept a specialist account with reserves and ongoing review. Replacing the payment rail does not change the regulated transfer itself.

With Peer Pay, the customer approves a transfer and the merchant receives verified USDC settlement. The shipment still goes to the appropriate FFL, and every required identity, eligibility, background-check, waiting-period, and recordkeeping step remains unchanged.

What changes with Peer Pay

Peer Pay is checkout software, not a payment processor or merchant account. The buyer starts a payment from a supported app, a cryptographic proof verifies the transfer, and USDC settles to a self-custodial wallet controlled by the licensed merchant. Peer does not hold the merchant's funds, so this flow has no processor balance, rolling reserve, or payout schedule.

That different settlement path does not change the underlying sale. The merchant still owns product eligibility, licensing, customer checks, fulfillment, refunds, taxes, disclosures, and every rule that applies in the places it serves.

How the payment works

  1. Create the order. Use a hosted payment link, ecommerce integration, embedded checkout, or Scan to Pay at the counter.
  2. The buyer chooses a supported app. They review the recipient and amount, then approve the payment on their own device.
  3. Wait for proof. Peer verifies the transfer before the order is marked paid. A screenshot is not payment confirmation.
  4. Reconcile settlement. USDC reaches the wallet controlled by the licensed merchant, and the dashboard keeps the payment tied to the order.

When the fit is strongest

  • You want a second payment rail that does not create a processor-held balance.
  • Your customers already use supported payment apps and can approve each purchase themselves.
  • You can receive USDC in a self-custodial wallet and reconcile it into your own operations.
  • You hold all required licenses and can keep payment confirmation separate from final transfer authorization.

Before you launch

  • Peer Pay does not replace Form 4473, background checks, FFL transfer, waiting periods, export controls, or shipping rules.
  • Only lawful, approved inventory may be sold; prohibited weapons and unlawful transfers are never permitted.
  • Firearms parts and accessories are restricted and require prior written approval from Peer.

FAQ

Does payment verification authorize the firearm transfer?

No. Payment and transfer eligibility are separate. The merchant must complete every required FFL, identity, background-check, waiting-period, and recordkeeping step before transfer.

Can an unlicensed seller use this guide?

No. Peer Pay is available only to approved, lawfully operating merchants and never for prohibited weapons or unlawful transfers.
