Withdrawing With Peer Pay: What to Expect

For customers: what happens after a business sends you a Peer Pay withdrawal link, step by step, and the questions people ask while they wait.

The steps

  1. Open the link. It comes from the business: in their app or site, or by email once the money is ready.
  2. Enter the code. A one-time code goes to your email. Enter it and you are signed in. If the money is still on its way, the page says so and moves on by itself once it lands.
  3. Choose where it goes. A payment app the business offers, from Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Zelle, Revolut, and Chime, or crypto, or the Peer app. On PayPal and Revolut you can pick a currency other than USD.
  4. Enter your account. Your Venmo username, $Cashtag, Revtag, or whatever the app asks for. Check it is yours: the withdrawal goes to that account.
  5. Review and start. The screen shows what you receive and where. Tap Start withdrawal.

Why the payment shows another person’s name

Your withdrawal is paid by another Peer user, not by the business, so the payment in your app shows their name. They receive the crypto behind your withdrawal once their payment to you is verified.

A withdrawal can arrive in more than one payment, from more than one person. The page shows what is paid and what is still to come.

Verifying your payment app

On Venmo, Cash App, and PayPal you may be asked to verify your account once. Venmo opens a pop-up in your browser. Cash App and PayPal open the Peer App Clip in Safari on an iPhone, or the Peer app on Android and other browsers. On a computer, scan the code with your phone. After that, payments into your account confirm automatically. Some payments only go to verified accounts, so verifying can make your withdrawal faster.

Where it is offered, you can continue without verifying, and the person paying you proves their payment instead. On Zelle, Revolut, and Chime there is nothing to verify.

While you wait

  • You can close the page. You get an email when your withdrawal is paid, and the same link brings you back.
  • How long it takes depends on the app and the amount, because someone has to take your withdrawal and pay it. USDC on Base arrives in about a minute.
  • While no one is paying you, you can change the withdrawal method.
  • If your verification stops working, the page asks you to verify again.
  • When it is done, the page says “Withdrawal complete” and shows what you received and where.

Keeping the money instead

If you would rather not withdraw yet, choose the Peer app at the end of the list. The money stays as USDC in your own wallet, tied to your email. Sign in to the Peer app with the same email to see it, withdraw it later, or keep it.

Once the business has funded your withdrawal, the money is yours, and the business cannot take it back.

FAQ

Why did I get a payment from someone I don't know?

Your withdrawal is paid by another Peer user, not by the business, so the payment in your app shows their name. Once their payment to you is verified, the crypto behind your withdrawal is released to them.

Do I need a crypto wallet to withdraw?

No. Your email is your account. A wallet tied to it is set up for you, and gas is covered.

Does it cost anything to withdraw?

Not to a payment app or as USDC on Base. Crypto sent to any other network arrives minus its network and bridge fees, which the screen shows before you confirm.

Can I change where my withdrawal goes?

Yes, while no one is paying you. Choose Change withdrawal method on the withdrawal page.

Who do I contact about my withdrawal?

The business that sent it. If it set a support link, you will find it on the withdrawal page.

The direct route: Peer Pay payouts are funded in crypto, while customers sign in with their email and withdraw to the app they already use. No wallet on their side, and no one in the middle holding the money.
